Radar Range Calculator

Radar Range Calculator

Calculate the maximum radar range using the radar range equation:
\[ R = \left( \frac{P_t\,G^2\,\lambda^2\,\sigma}{(4\pi)^3\,S_{\min}} \right)^{\frac{1}{4}} \]

* Enter the transmitted power \(P_t\) (W), antenna gain \(G\), wavelength \(\lambda\) (m), radar cross-section \(\sigma\) (m²), and minimum detectable signal \(S_{\min}\) (W).

Step 1: Enter Parameters

Example: 1000 W

Example: 30

Example: 0.03 m (3 cm)

Example: 1 m²

Example: 1e-10 W

Derived Formula: \( R = \left( \frac{P_t\,G^2\,\lambda^2\,\sigma}{(4\pi)^3\,S_{\min}} \right)^{\frac{1}{4}} \)

Practical Example:
For \( P_t = 1000\,\text{W} \), \( G = 30 \), \( \lambda = 0.03\,\text{m} \), \( \sigma = 1\,\text{m}^2 \), and \( S_{\min} = 1\times10^{-10}\,\text{W} \), the calculator computes the maximum radar range.
