Acceleration Due to Gravity Calculator (at different altitudes)

Acceleration Due to Gravity Calculator

Acceleration Due to Gravity Calculator

Calculate the acceleration due to gravity at different altitudes using the formula:
\( g = g_0\left(\frac{R}{R+h}\right)^2 \)
where \( g_0 \) is the acceleration at sea level, \( R \) is the Earth’s radius, and \( h \) is the altitude above the surface.

* Enter the altitude and (optionally) adjust Earth’s parameters.

Step 1: Enter Parameters

Example: 0 for sea level, 1000 for 1 km above sea level

Default: 6,371,000 m

Default: 9.80665 m/s²

Derived Formula:
\( g = g_0\left(\frac{R}{R+h}\right)^2 \)

Example:
For \( h = 0 \) m, \( R = 6,371,000 \) m, and \( g_0 = 9.80665 \) m/s², the calculated \( g \) will be 9.80665 m/s².
