GMR of Bundled Conductors Calculator

Bundled Conductors GMR Calculator

Calculate the effective Geometric Mean Radius (GMR) for bundled conductors.
For a single conductor, \(GMR = 0.7788\,r\). For an \(N\)-conductor bundle (with \(N>1\)) arranged in a line with equal spacing \(d\), \[ GMR = \Bigl(0.7788\,r\,d^{(N-1)}\Bigr)^{\frac{1}{N}} \]

* Enter the conductor radius (m) and, for bundles, the spacing (m) and bundle size.

Step 1: Enter Parameters

Example: 0.01 m

Derived Formulas:
For a single conductor: \( GMR = 0.7788\,r \)
For an \(N\)-conductor bundle: \( GMR = \Bigl(0.7788\,r\,d^{(N-1)}\Bigr)^{\frac{1}{N}} \)

Example:
For a 3-conductor bundle with \( r = 0.01\,\text{m} \) and \( d = 0.05\,\text{m} \),
\( GMR = \sqrt[3]{0.7788 \times 0.01 \times (0.05)^2} \) m.
