How the Recipe Manager Works

The Recipe Manager is your personal digital cookbook, designed to help you organize, find, and manage all your favorite recipes in one place. You can add new recipes with detailed information, including ingredients, step-by-step instructions, prep times, and custom tags. All your recipe data is stored locally in your browser for complete privacy.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Add a Recipe: Click the "New Recipe" button to open the form. Fill in all the details for your recipe, including adding ingredients, instructions, and descriptive tags one by one.
  2. Browse Your Collection: All your recipes are displayed as cards. Use the search bar to find recipes by name or tag, or use the dropdown to filter by category.
  3. View a Recipe: Click on any recipe card to open its detailed view, which lays out the ingredients and instructions clearly for easy reference while cooking.
  4. Manage and Edit: Hover over any recipe in the list view to quickly edit or delete it. You can also mark recipes as favorites for quick access.
  5. Export for Sharing: In the detailed view, you can export any recipe as a simple text file, making it easy to share with friends and family via email or text message.

Tips for Organizing Your Recipes

1. Use Descriptive Tags

Tags are a powerful way to organize your collection. Use tags like "quick-weekday-dinner," "vegetarian," "holiday-baking," or "low-carb" to make it easy to find the right recipe for any occasion.

2. Be Detailed in Your Instructions

When adding a new recipe, write the instructions as if you're explaining it to someone who has never cooked it before. This makes it much easier to follow along later, especially for complex recipes.

3. Mark Your Favorites

Use the heart icon to mark your go-to, tried-and-true recipes. This helps them stand out in your collection and makes it easy to find a reliable dish when you need one.
