Concrete Work Calculators Calculator Guide
Concrete Basics
Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world. It's a mix of cement, water, and aggregates (sand/gravel).
The "Cure"
Concrete doesn't "dry"; it "cures." This is a chemical reaction (hydration) that requires water.
Tip: Keep concrete wet for at least 7 days after pouring. If it dries out too fast, it will be weak and crack.
Project Types
Flatwork
Slabs, driveways, sidewalks.
- Key: Proper sub-base preparation (compacted gravel) is more important than the concrete itself.
Footings
The base of a house.
- Key: Must be below the "frost line" to prevent heaving in winter.
